Flat Forms
Sooooo many people have blogged about flatforms.
I'm rather short and do like wearing shoes that add a bit of height but i always have sore feet even with wedges!
I was a little excited to see lovely plain black ones from H&M (£24.99).
For some reason i like having shoes that are plain and often they are black. It does mean they match everything!

I'm not going to lie..its strange to walk in these. You forget that there is an extra couple of inches and forget to lift your feet as much...but maybe its just me!
But they are so comfy! I wore them on Iain and I's date night on our 3 year anniversary! And even though it was just dinner and the cinema I didn't look over dressed.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM. Seriously. Get a pair.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't fussed on reading this. Purely because its FACT. There is no fiction adding to the story. I thought i would find it hard to read and follow because it would involve lots of science.
Anyway.. the story follows the life of a woman called Henrietta Lacks who had an extremely rare fast forming cancer. Samples of her cancer were taken and when being tested her cells spread rapidly. This became the being of HeLa cells. Cells that would later be sold world wide and find cures for polio and help research medicines for cancer and AIDS.
The book not only follows the struggle of medical care for black people in the 50s, but the affect her of her cells still being used today has on her family. Her family have never had anything explained to them which was especially distressing to her daughter, Deborah. Also the fact that the family still cant afford medical care, while many scientists are cells HeLa cells and becoming millionaires through it.
I obviously dont want to say everything that happens but it is amazing to follow Rebecca Skloot's issues and relationships develop. Skloot has a scientific background and obviously understands the technical terms but makes the information easy to understand.

I highly recommend this book. I was pleasantly surprised.

My Week in Instagrams
It's been a good and busy week! I was off for a reading week and planned on finishing my book for book club and had only planned on doing one day of uni work!
On Monday, Cat and I rambled around Carrick for photos, which was a complete failure but we saw ducks/swans/geesey things!
Tuesday was the beautiful afternoon tea mentioned previously! And my cousin Nicola and I also hit the cinema to see "Safe House" which i was pleasantly surprised at liking! RYAN REYNOLDS. Thats all i need to say.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were filled with primary school fun.. my auntie is a primary school teacher so i decided to go to school with her and help with her classes...hence the giant smarties tube! Maths and percentages weren't taught to me using smarties =[
Saturday I had a fantastic horse riding lesson, which always kicks my weekend into a good start and i spent the rest of my time with my lovely boyfriend.
Hope everyone had a good week/ hope this one is good too!

Afternoon Tea
I always hear of people going for afternoon tea at The Merchant Hotel (Belfast) but I have never had the time to do it before.
As a treat my family, plus my lovely cousin Nicola booked ourselves in.
It all looked good...AND TASTED EVEN BETTER.
I'm a big tea lover and I love trying new ones, so i took advantage of the various teas on the menu. I tried one called 'Apple loves mint', by Suki Tea, who are also based in Belfast. I have to admit at the start it tasted very strange. The mint tasted like really strange mouthwash but the longer it brewed the more of the apple flavour came through.
I ate so much and felt let down by myself as i couldnt finish it! But The Merchant even impress with their doggy bags...
I have only been in The Merchant before for lunch about 6 years ago and then last year for my boyfriend's sisters wedding. It was a beautiful reception with excellent food and service (highly recommended!). Iain and I also stayed over for the night and the rooms were amazing. If anyone wants somewhere fancy thats handy for the centre of Belfast it is worth the cost.
Another first for me, besides afternoon tea was trying to wear a maxi skirt...im rather short (5'2..5'3 when i poof up my hair) and ive always avoided full length skirts because i thought they would highlight how short i am. I got this plain black one from New Look (£14.99) and although it does need taken up I managed to struggle through the day. I think ive found my new favourite item of clothing..
Although I thought I would look at bit rare walking around, I just didnt care, which according to my cousin is how i pull it off!
